Abstract :
Concrete is the most widely used material in construction, the destruction of concrete structures produces the highest volume of the material depot. To avoid the environmental problems caused by the depot and to reduce the costs of transporting and discharging these materials, making concrete with recycled materials can provide a sustainable approach to the reuse of these materials. Recycled concrete has attracted the attention of researchers in recent years and many experiments have been performed to replace recycled aggregate or recycled masonry and tile aggregates with natural aggregates. Recycled asphalt aggregates, are mostly used in road foundations and in the preparation of hot asphalt mixtures and have received less attention in concrete, while these materials are found in abundance, and their depots have always caused environmental problems. This study investigates the properties of concrete with recycled asphalt aggregates including compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and durability against successive cycles of freeze-thaw. the properties of concrete containing recycled asphalt aggregates with other types of recycled concretes are compared too. The results show that concrete with recycled asphalt aggregate with proportional replacement percentages can be used as an alternative to conventional concrete in special cases. Comparison of the obtained results with other types of recycled concretes shows that this type of concrete has similar properties to them and recycled asphalt aggregate is a suitable material to replace natural aggregate in concrete.
